Care Tips
-
Only use professional products!!
-
Only use protein, keratin & alcohol free hair products - NO Olaplex, K18, anything designed for restoring blondes.
-
When using hair oils: if you have blonde extensions avoid colored oils (gold, orange, etc.) it will cause staining to your extensions! All oils in the recommended section are clear.
-
Allow 48 hours before washing after installation for adhesive applications.
-
Wash hair maximum 3 times a week, when washing lift wefts up and wash underneath and on top of wefts, rinse thoroughly. Bring a clip to section if needed
-
Don’t use conditioner at the anchor points of your wefts (where the beads are) it can cause premature slipping.
-
Deep condition once a week
-
After washing, apply hair oil from mid strands to ends of hair
-
Brush daily - support weft at the root while brushing working from ends to root
-
Always dry hair thoroughly before sleeping or heat styling
-
Tie wefts into loose braid for sleeping, wear a bonnet or using a silk pillow case is also recommended.
-
ALWAYS use heat protectant
-
Avoid chlorine, always wash hair after swimming. If you are going swimming, wet hair with clean water, and either spray a leave in conditioner on or leave a light coating of hair conditioner over your hair and tie up or into braids.
🚨 Why does this work? Think of your hair as a towel, when you get a towel wet and try to soak up a spill. It doesn’t work to well, right? Same with your hair! your already “pre-filling” the hair cuticle with water and creating a barrier with conditioner, this makes it WAY harder for chlorine to make its way into your hair strand.
-
Maintenance according to your install method- will be outlined in your contract.
-
Use mineral based sunscreens! Traditional sunscreens, particularly those containing avobenzone, can cause discoloration (usually a peach or orange color) in hair extensions. Mineral sunscreens, which typically use zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as active ingredients, are less likely to cause this issue.
Frequently asked Questions
"I have really thin hair, will extensions work for me?"
- Don't rule out the possibility! Let's set up a consultation so I can really see what I'd be working with. Consults are no pressure! I can recommend what I feel would be best for YOU and give you a price point. If I don't feel extensions would be a good fit for you, I will be up front and honest. The integrity of your hair is at the forefront of my mind.
"Will extensions damage my hair?"
-To put it quite bluntly, yes they CAN-does not mean they will. It is a team effort between the client and myself. I take pride in learning new techniques and really studying how to properly anchor extensions into the hair to ensure there is no pulling or tension points. Even though we may be chatting and having a great time, I am consistently checking anchors, threads, beads, scalp color/health and the list goes on! Extensions are not one size fits all and I always ensure the method and installation is what will be best for you. When my client follows proper maintenance and comes in on time for maintenance, success is inevitable!
"Why are you so low cost compared to other stylists?"
-I strive to make extensions, and all my hair services affordable and attainable, many of my clients struggle with health concerns, life changes, pregnancy and mental health struggles. I once heard someone say, "Hair stylist's deal in self-confidence" and that couldn't be any more true! I am human, I have been there. Hair is so much more than just hair, it really goes deeper into the way we view ourselves and our self-image. When someone leaves my chair glowing and sometimes a little teary eyed feeling like their best selves, saying "I'm back!" - those are the moments that keep me going and keep my passion alive.
